For a person with a brain injury, spinal cord injury, or other serious and catastrophic injury, the experience is literally life-altering. The prospect of rehabilitation can seem overwhelming. That is why at Special Tree, our rehabilitation professionals are dedicated to helping the person and their family through the entire process. Interdisciplinary teams of nurses, therapists, psychologists and others work together to plan a rehabilitation program that offers the best chances for recovery. As much as possible, the people we serve and their families become an integral part of this team, making choices to ensure the rehabilitation plan centers around their individual needs, goals, and lifestyle.
This approach is what we like to call the Science of Caring®. Our expert team of professionals not only bring skill and experience, they bring a level of dedication and caring essential to healing and recovery. Our direct care and support staff are always here to help–to provide an environment that is comfortable and healing.
A person-centered rehabilitation program cannot be successful unless it addresses the needs of the whole person. This means finding ways to improve functional skills and offer choices and support to help the person regain control over their life, and with that, again find meaning and purpose. Which means more than healing the physical injury – it may also mean helping the person adjust to new limitations, find ways to participate in community activities, improve memory and attention, or even learn new strategies to deal with their moods and feelings or more effective ways to interact with others.
To achieve this, Special Tree offers a full array of programs and a variety of treatment environments including post-acute and subacute inpatient programs, outpatient rehabilitation, community residential services, respite care, day treatment and vocational services, specialized behavior treatment, and exceptional programs for kids and teens.
