COVID-19 Update | April 9, 2021

Here are the Latest Updates:

  • Two team members who work on NeuroCare Campus North have tested positive for COVID-19 this week. Unfortunately, visitation for all NCC North clients is temporarily suspended and clients on NCC North and South will receive a PCR test on Monday as required by the MDHHS.
  • Visitation for NCC South clients is not affected as the team members who tested positive did not work on the unit.
  • Two team members at Heavlin are on 14-day quarantines due to household members who tested positive. Indoor visitation is not affected for Heavlin clients. As a precaution, all Heavlin clients will be rapid tested on Monday.
  • Team members who tested positive are all on 14-day quarantines and contact tracing has been initiated to identify, monitor, and support individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.
  • If all client PCR tests are negative and results are received, we can resume visitation next week.

Twice Weekly COVID-19 Testing Starts Next Week
The rise in active cases at Special Tree is reflective of the recent surge in cases across the state. Wayne County's positivity rate is now at 12.6% which has triggered stricter testing requirements for skilled nursing facilities like Special Tree. Mandatory bi-weekly testing for staff begins next week on Tuesdays and Fridays until the positivity rate falls below 10%

Vaccines and Vigilance
With Michigan leading the nation in new COVID-19 cases, now is the time to double-down on public health measures to stop community spread including wearing a mask, hand washing, social distancing, avoiding large indoor gatherings, and getting the vaccine. The vaccine remains the most important tool we have to fight the virus. If you're not yet vaccinated, please consider getting your vaccine. Special Tree is proud to offer ongoing drive-thru clinics to all Special Tree, Resilire, and CC Rehab clients, staff, and their families at two locations. Please check your email for details on how to sign-up.

As we've said many times, the health and safety of our clients and team members is our top priority and we remain vigilant in continuing our strategies to prevent and slow the spread of the virus at Special Tree.
