COVID-19 Update | April 9, 2021

Here are the Latest Updates:

COVID-19 Update | April 2, 2021

This week, we had to temporarily suspend visitation at the NeuroCare Center - North and our Heavlin Residence after a staff member who worked on those units tested positive for COVID-19 during our mandatory weekly testing cycle for clients and staff.  Per MDHHS guidelines, NCC North and Heavlin clients were retested and all results came back negative today!  Visitation will resume at NCC North and Heavlin on Monday, April 5th.  Visitation for NCC South clients was not affected as the staff member did not work on the unit.  Although testing of visitors is not mandated by the state, Special Tree will continue to do testing as part of our screening protocol at this time.

COVID-19 Update | March 17, 2021

We're excited to share that visitation will resume at the NeuroCare Campus on March 18th for clients in the 100/200/300 halls.  Today we were notified of a new COVID-19 positive team member, however this positive case does not impact our facility. Contact tracing confirmed that the team member had a known exposure from an external source and has not worked multiple days prior to having their exposure.  As a result of this investigation findings as aligned with guidelines from the MDHHS, we can continue visitations on March 18th as scheduled.

COVID-19 Update | March 12, 2021

We were notified today that a team member at the NeuroCare Campus tested positive for COVID-19.  Although we've had to temporarily cancel visitation, we just received some wonderful late breaking news from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) that visitation can still occur during a COVID-19 outbreak at skilled nursing facilities if certain conditions are met.   These new visitation guidelines mean we won't have to shutdown every time there is a positive case at the NeuroCare Campus.  We're hopeful to begin lifting visitor restrictions next week, instead of waiting 14 days for no new cases.

SPECIAL TREE TO WELCOME VISITORS SOON
A new Executive Order from the Governor allows indoor visitation to resume at long term care facilities regardless of how much COVID-19 is spreading in the community.  This is fantastic news!  Our COVID-19 Watch Team is working out the details for visitation and we anticipate reopening to visitors on Thursday, March 11, 2021 if there are no new cases of COVID-19.  Visitor restrictions cannot be lifted sooner due to our last positive case on February 25th.  We will send information about our new visitation guidelines early next week.
